LOGARITHMIC FLINN DIAGRAM

A plot of ln a versus ln b. Takes care of the scaling problem on original Flinn plot. ln a is same as e1-e2 and ln b is same as e2-e3. The values of these are infinity or 1 or zero for uniaxially prolate, plane strain and uniaxially oblate ellipsoids. Ramsay and Wood showed the utility of this plot in the analysis of reduction spots in slates which had suffered volume loss during deformation. The fields of oblate and prolate shapes becoming apparently prolate and apparently oblate and the line of plane strain assumes a value of  (a=b)<1.
