A mathematical analysis that tries to attempt distortional changes of rock masses as a result of natural tectonic deformation. Since the shapes are too complex, the method lies in breaking down the distortion to smaller and smaller sizes or components till the distortion can safely become amenable to quantitative analysis. Also involves transport of rock masses or bodies together with rotational component if any.
