ANTIFORMAL AND SYNFORMAL ANTICLINES AND SYNCLINES

     
              Antiform in whose core are found older and younger rocks respectively. A and C in the figure on the normal limb of the refolded recumbent structure.   The figure shows the following:                                            
Antiformal anticline: a second generation antiformal fold on the normal limb of a recumbent fold and containing oldest rocks in the core;      
Synformal Syncline: a second generation synformal fold on the normal limb of a recumbent fold and containing youngest rocks in the core;                                                                                                                                            
Antiformal syncline: a second generation antiformal fold on the inverted limb of a recumbent fold and containing youngest rocks in the core;                                                                          
Synformal anticline: a second generation synformal fold on the inverted limb of a recumbent fold and containing oldest rocks in the core.
