At the base of the Jotun nappe in Norwegian chalcedonies, the first this was studied for its extremely high finite strain by Hossack. He combined the Lode's parameter and the octahedral unit of Nadai to produce the unique plot that shows both the finite strain ellipsoid shape as well as the strain intensiy. Hossack also tried to restore the original stratigraphic succession by removal of finite strain. However, this latter attempt and the method used by him did not attract the attention of the geologists.
