COMPOSITE GROWTH

Combination of syntaxial growth of a mineral species found in the host rock near the margin and of antitaxial growth of other mineral species NOT found in the host rock near the vein centre gives rise to a composite vein. Such growth also found in the pressure shadow regions of porphyroblastic or porphyroclastic mineral such as garnet or quartz. The photographh is reproduced after Bons.
