CRENULATION CLEAVAGE, DISCRETE

Discrete cleavage: The surfaces are very thin and abrupt; preexisting schistosity cannot be traced through them (most common in fine grained rocks). This is in contrast to zonal in which the cleavage planes are actually zones of oriented micaceous minerals, and it is possible to trace the preexisting schistosity right through the cleavage zones.
