THRUST, KLIPPE

KLIPPE-A small detached and isolated portion of a nappe or thrust sheet. It is a denudational feature. Under much erosion, this may not be present at all and may lead to gross errors in working out the total transport undergone by a thrust sheet. Other evidence has to be collected to corroborate the fact that the frontal region probably lay considerable distance away from where it is actually seen now.
